Step 1 – Learn the first exercise (step 1 – Create 6 notes long phrases), then practice separately those licks – the same way we did in Funky in C lesson.
Step 2 – Integrate the licks in your improvisation. Mix them up.
Step 3 – Compose your licks based on the original lick. It is enough if you change a few notes here and there. You can develop or simplify the original lick.
Step 4 – Every time you play the first bar (C chord), let yourself to improvise freely. No licks.
Step 5 – Forget all these licks, and improvise freely.
Move to the next exercise and do all these previous steps again.
